Mystery Quilt and Christmas Decorating

Today I had lunch at Cool Beans with two of my favorite people, Sue and Deb Tucker of Studio 180 Design.  Great lunch and wonderful company.

And decorated my studio for Christmas.  Lots of tulle and white lights!  Need more tulle - 20 yards really didn't go that far.

I am working in the evenings on my Mystery Quilt.   I would like to have all of step 2 finished before step 3 is posted on Friday.  Trimming half square triangles today between customers and lunch.  Plan to finish step one tonight.  Can't wait to see what is next and how this will go together.

Do you like making scrappy quilts or do you preferred more"organized " fabric selection?

Mystery Quilt part 2

Many of my pink fabrics are from one of the three raffle basket my fun and funny vendor friends and I  (Hi Linda and Donna!)  won at the Four County Quilt Guild show in Frederick, MD this past August.

Today I ironed and cut.   Just a few photos of  how I use my QuiltCut2.
And yes I do need to work on my formatting skills!

Layered 8 different pink fabrics for the strips.
Set the speed gauge at 2 inches  and trimmed fabric edges.

Push down on the speed gauge
so it is against the cut edge of the fabric and cut 2 inch strips.
Cut 4 inch strips for the half square triangles,
and cut the strips into squares.

Set the angle on the 45 degree mark.
and cut half square triangles.
Some of the half square triangles.
Need 120 for the mystery quilt!

All the fabric cut
and ready to sew this weekend.

It will be quiet at my house this weekend because it is HUNTING SEASON!!!!!

Have a great weekend!

Mystery Quilt

Have you ever done a mystery quilt?  I have not, that is, until now.  Bonnie Hunter convinced me to do one.  No, she didn't personally talk me into it.  I read her blog and love her style.   Still wasn't going to make a mystery quilt until............... I saw the color choices - green, brown and pink - what's not to love about that!
All fabrics from your stash.  So today I shopped my stash and these are my choices:

What do you think?

Are you going to play too?!?!?

This will be fun!

Happy Thanksgiving

Top 10 reasons why the QuiltCut2 is the best fabric cutting system!

1. Fast - I cut out most queen size quilts in 1 1/2 to 2 hours - not 2 to 3 days.
2. Accuracy.
3. The ruler doesn't slip.
4. Versatility - Cut any straight sided shape - strips, squares, triangles, hexagons, and more!
5. No need to purchase expensive dies.
6. Helps those with arthritis or strength issues.
7. Easy to learn.  The QuiltCut2 comes with a manual and an instructional DVD.
8. Suitable for righties or lefties!
9. Thirteen angles on the cutting guide.
10. The clamp bar holds the fabric so it won't slip off the table.

I will be demonstrating the QuiltCut2 at Traditions at the White Swan during the
Quilters Quest 2010.
